Dorm Decor- Headboard Alternative

College comes with SO many new things to be excited about, but decorating my dorm what I always look forward to most! When you get intimidated by decorating a whole room, just know that your bed is the focal point of your space. If you have pillows, a comforter, throw, and complete it with a gorgeous headboard, you're off to a great start! In a previous post, I showed you a DIY Burlap Headboard I made for my dorm last summer. Here's another headboard option that will make your dorm look like it came straight out of a catalogue!

Let me introduce you to these wonderful wall panels. Thank you to The Container Store for such a brilliant and affordable decoration! You'd never guess it, but they're plastic! These panels come in white, orange, or black and have different design options.

You can see how the wall panels pulled our whole room together. A great headboard has the potential to stand out the most in your space. During student tours, our room was always used to show prospective students

since they loved our decorations so much! That was a great incentive for

us to keep our room clean too. ;)

Each package comes with 4 tiles and only cost $10. I bought two packs to go above my bed and my roommate, Mary Jo did the same. They're easy to install; just hook the small metal links that come with the pack and string them together. We simply pushed thumb tacks at the top of the panels to hang them since they're so lightweight.

Since I made my burlap headboard last summer, I now use my white wall panels in the bathroom for those "hard to decorate spots". Read my other blog post to learn how to make your own burlap headboard for under $50!

You can also take a video tour of our room in West Hall that UALR made my freshman year. You'll find several other dorm decoration ideas and get an idea of what a typical college dorm looks like.

More blog posts to come on dorm decor and college tips! I'm excited to have the University of Arkansas at Little Rock feature my college blog posts on their social media hub, The Fountain. If you have any suggestions for future posts about college, feel free to comment below. :)

Until next time!
